  • Divorce typically reduces a woman’s income by 45% and that stress manifests itself with physical symptoms.
  • 36% of the homeless population in Tarrant County are women and 15% are children.

The General Counseling Program addresses immediate crises and improves the problem-solving abilities, emotional well-being, and healthy functioning of women, men, and children in crisis and transition. Services are provided along a continuum of care from the Helpline for connection to community resources to clinical counseling to specialized services for older adults, school-aged children, or those experiencing homelessness.

248 Women and Men Received Therapy in 2023 to Address Crisis and Improve Emotional Well Being.

Individual Counseling

The Women’s Center connects individuals with master’s level therapists who can help resolve crises, manage life transitions, and develop better coping & problem-solving skills.

Counseling is provided in the Fort Worth and Arlington offices and is available for individuals, couples, and families.

Support Groups

We offer groups that provide emotional support, teach new skills and help participants solve problems. Groups cover topics such as goal setting, coping skills, self-esteem building, stress reduction, problem-solving, effective communication, nutrition, and more.

Groups are held every Tuesday at 2 pm at the Fort Worth office. Please call ahead to register.

Helpline

The Women’s Center assists callers in solving immediate problems by providing crisis stabilization and needs assessment counseling, along with information and referral to community resources or other Women’s Center services.

PEARLS (Program to Encourage Active and Rewarding Lives)

166 Older Adults Received In-Home Support Through PEARLS in 2023

Older adults are at an increased risk of mental health disorders resulting from isolation, limited resources, grief, maltreatment and declining health.

Using the evidenced-based PEARLS program, The Center provides in-home coaching to socially isolated, depressed older adults to improve their emotional and physical health and help them live more fulfilling lives.

Services for Homeless Children

318 homeless children and their 161 parents living in shelters received support to meet emotional and physical needs as they transitioned out of homelessness.

In partnership with Cook Children’s Hospital, The Women’s Center provides connections to resources and parenting and life skills education to families living in the Presbyterian Night Shelter, Union Gospel Mission, and Arlington Life Shelter to help them transition out of homelessness.
